Monday Morning

One day a customer came by and asked for a quick release seat post clamp. Most seat post clamps have a space of no-threads and then reach for the nut.

Quick releases for seat posts is relatively new. Lots of older bikes do not have quick release latches anywhere on the bike.

Using an 8mm in diameter die with a 1mm pitch count to match the bolt, we threaded the bolt all the way to the other end, thus creating the possibility of latching it on the back of a skinny seat post.

The parts room of a bike shop.
A die re-threads a bolt. As long as the right pitch and bolt diameter is used, applying the die to the bolt is straightforward: just thread it on.
