Winter Bike

Winter riding: cycling in tough weather is not fun, unless you are properly geared up. Lianna Lifson’s bike has thin tires which makes slipping easy on slippery surfaces. She still wants to go fast when the roads are dry. The challenge: find a happy medium set of tires with tread. We don’t want too wide or excessively knobby.

Notice the room around the tire? The frame and brake calipers allow for a thicker tire. A lot of road bikes have slim openings which makes converting them into “snow bikes” almost impossible.

The other option is to buy a new bike and outfit it as a “Winter bike”.
