Custom Bikes in Boulder: We Make them with Recycled Parts and New
A Custom Recycled Bike is a Conversation between Customer and Standard Bike Repair. The idea is to retrieve a frame from the stock of 30+ in the yard and to fit your needs.
Custom Recycled Bikes start at $300.00, but the reality is that they are somewhere between 350.00 – 700.00 Building the bike with the owner of the shop is part of the Custom process.
Do we have the frame that you want? Sometimes we do not have the frame that your heart is set on. As part of the 125.00 Custom Build Labor Fee, we help you procure one. A page like http://www.standardbikerepair.com/boulder-bike-shops/ list resources in town. There is always the maze of the world wide web. We have found frames for just about everybody that asks.
There is a deposit of half your planned budget due at the consultation appointment.
A Bike Build Plan usually consists of a 1-2 hour Consult meeting followed by two 2-3 hour sessions of Build Time. At the initial meeting, we discuss specific parts, pricing and bike fitting.
Our bike fitting is based on comfort and height of customer. Beyond questions like, “How would you prefer to ride?” our fitting system is basic.
The idea of this plan is to include you in the Build and Customization research and development. You will get to use all the tools as well as discuss decisions that we make together as we design the bike. Seeing the bike from scratch to ride-able is a unique thrill. We guarantee that you will know Much More about bike mechanics and repair when you have a Full-grown bicycle. Metal lasts forever. We use recycled parts and new wheels to make your new bike.
As we build, we keep tabs using Quickbooks. That way we can see the numbers inflate and deflate based on what parts we choose. We offer $1.00 Used Parts during the Custom Recycled Bike process. The more used parts like stems, seat posts, tires and saddle that you use to make your bike, the less expensive.
People like new tires, colorful grips, and sweet pedals. The frame may be refurbished, but the important stuff like wheels are new. Bling like new bar tape, and modern shifters are extra.
We take cash, check or visa. Standard tax rates apply. We have a 3% charge on credit/debit cards.
We can do mountain bikes, road bikes, racing bikes, trick bikes, randonneur, single speeds, cruisers, fixed gear, tricycles, vintage, cyclocross, and Schwinn. We do not weld frames. We use what is existing in terms of bike frames. Our home-based shop is not equipped with a welding arena.
