Fall Weather

Working outside: in the Fall weather.

Pierce is removing the tire from the wheel to get ready for a spoke replacement.

If a spoke gets bent or broken, the wheel usually goes wobbly. Wobbly is a technical term that means the wheel rim moves laterally from side to side. It doesn’t go unnoticed when the rim rubs the brake with every wheel rotation. No one likes to go slow.

Replacing in the rear wheel spoke almost always means removing the cassette.

Then, we have to replace the spoke with a similar thickness gauge and length. It is important to keep a variety of stock in the shop to meet the demand of a variety of bicycles.

If we don’t have the right size spoke length within 2mm, then we can cut a longer spoke and rub new threads into the end with a Hozan Spoke Threading Machine.

Many bike repairs are simple. Other bike repairs just have more simple steps. Putting a new spoke in can be quite a few steps.
