Standard Bike Repair began in 2010 in a small cottage behind a home in Boulder. Ryan started with almost no formal repair background, but he learned quickly by doing the work, solving problems, and keeping things simple for people who just wanted their bikes to work well.
Over time, Standard Bike Repair became a shop built around a different kind of bike repair experience: hands-on, practical, and open enough that riders could be part of the process instead of waiting behind a counter.
In April 2025, Standard Bike Repair moved into Boulder Sports Recycler, bringing the same hands-on approach to a larger, shared space rooted in reuse, access, and community.
That’s why the heart of SBR is Watch. Help. Learn. You don’t need to be “mechanically minded.” You just need curiosity. Most people watch. Some help. Everyone learns.
